Automatic backlighting in lockers

I propose to make a really useful homemade product - the lighting of the kitchen cabinet. Just imagine, you open the drawer with cutlery and light comes on. It is very beautiful and unusual. You can equip any place with such a backlight, whether it be at least a pendant box or a closet with things and clothes. LED backlighting can work both from batteries and from batteries. Their full discharge will not occur if you accidentally forget to close the compartment, since the backlight is endowed with a simple timer circuit. And the light will automatically go out in about 15 seconds. This is how it looks:

We need:

  • Three-contact reed switch.
  • Round magnet or any other shape.
  • IRF840 transistor,you can take a similar other.
  • Resistor 500 Ohm.
  • Resistor 300 Ohm (you can not put).
  • Resistor 20 Ohm (to reduce the current LED strips - you can not put).
  • 22 μF capacitor.
  • 25 cm LED tape at 12 V. The tape size is naturally on your discretion.
  • 8 pcs of batteries of the type - “AA” or “AAA”.
  • 1 meter of wire.

The scheme is very simple. In fact, the simplest time relay is assembled on the transistor. The transistor load is a piece of LED strip.

How does the magnetic contact of a reed switch

It's very simple. I approach the magnet and the middle contact rises to the top contact. I let go - everything returns to its original position.

Solder a resistor to the transistor.

Solder the rest of the circuit details. Solder the wires to the LED strip and connect to the timer.

Putting the battery out of batteries

We twist it in thick paper. We solder wires to the outlets. With force we fix everything with scotch tape.

Everything works without problems. I want to add that you should not underestimate the batteries - they will last for at least 2 years, moreover, with the most active use. I certainly would not recommend using batteries, because they have a high self-discharge.
