Restoring the chair

At my dacha, there was a chair for a long time, since my grandmother's time. I always liked it very much, and here I had a plan for its restoration. Moreover, recently "vintage" is becoming increasingly significant. Then I decided to transport it home and update it. So, for work we will need: - Stain (you can choose the color that suits you); - Furniture lacquer (we used lacquer in a balloon);- Screwdriver; - Material for upholstery (we used material for curtains); - Foam rubber (to give the seats a softer and thicker coating); - Building stapler; - Wooden shield ; - Glue for wood; - Drill; - Vibro-grinding machine.
 for the work we need
 we need
1. First you need to disassemble the chair.
it is necessary to disassemble the armchair
With our disassembly it became clearthat one detail from the legs consists of a chipboard and over time it cracked and began to crumble. This item was not subject to recovery. We decided to replace it with a wooden furniture shield. 2. Now we need to sandish all these details. This is the longest and most difficult process. Be patient. We removed the varnish from the parts with the help of a special iron nozzle on the drill. And then, the machine was cleaned with a machine until the natural color of the tree appeared.

3. Then from the building board we cut out the details of the shape we need and cover all other details with wood stain.

We chose a dark color. Now we wait 5-6 hours until the stain dries. After that, we cover them with furniture lacquer.
we wait for it to dry
We really wanted to preserve the effect of natural wood, so we didn’t try to achieve a thick and shiny coat of varnish .The drying time of varnish is approximately from 22 hours to a day, it depends on the thickness of the coating. 4. After all the details have dried, we begin to collect the legs. For this, we needed to drill holes in the new details in order to connect them with the rest of the details.

Then, using furniture glue we join all the details are between themselves and leave for 3 hours in order for the glue to dry. 5. Getting to trim the seat of the chair. Remove the old coating and pull out all the nails and staples. We left the old foam rubber, because it didn’t deteriorate much.
 Remove the old coating
Our goal is to make the chair more voluminous, so we cut out the new foam rubber and put it on the old one.

Cut off the corners of the new foam rubber, so that the edges are not very straight, but slightly rounded.

>After,We sew the old foam rubber to a new one so that it does not walk and move inside the chair.

6. Now you can fit the seat material. Our chair is not a complex geometric shape, so we successfully managed to fit it in one piece, without resorting to sewing. Gently pulling it with the help of a construction stapler, we sew it to the seat frame.
