Creation of jewelry from jewelry epoxy resin
Hello! Today I will tell, and most importantly, I will show how I create my decorations with the help of epoxy resin and molds.
For work are required:
- epoxy resin;
- silicone molds (for epoxy resin);
- disposable gloves, syringes, cups, mixing stick;
- various natural materials (dried flowers, shells, pebbles, etc.);
- potal, stained paint, perlex powder.
I work on a regular file so as not to stain the table.
To create a pendant from a hemisphere, I picked up two different dandelions so that you can compare how they will look in the final version.
Before starting to work carefully rinse all the molds that we plan to use, wipe them dry. Wearing gloves, pour resin and hardener into disposable cups (it is more convenient to type them with a syringe). We work in a well ventilated room.
After measuring the required amount of resin, pour into a clean, dry glass, measure the required amount of hardener with another syringe and add to the resin. Different manufacturers have their own proportions, so carefully read what is written on the package and follow all recommendations for work. The final result depends on the accuracy, if the resin is not frozen, then the proportions were violated, or the mixture is not well mixed with each other.
If you take a syringe with a rubber insert inside, the hardener will not splash when it is poured into the epoxy. Wooden stick (you can use skewers for kebabs) thoroughly mix the resulting mixture. I mark the time for 10 minutes, and with circular motions I interfere so as to prevent the ingress of air.
In the mold we lay neatly dandelion (I removed the lower parachutes with tweezers)
After mixing, I leave the resin for about half an hour for the chemical reaction to take place: it is possible to judge that the reaction is proceeding from the heated glass with the resin. Experimentally, I found that it is not necessary to work in very hot weather, the reaction will begin to flow very violently and the resin will harden for half an hour completely.This refers to the resin that I use, from different manufacturers - different criteria.
With a thin stream, gently pour the resin into the mold on the dandelion.
Since after solidification, it will settle down a little, pour it so that a small convex lens is obtained.
Now I will show how you can make beautiful rings of glass, washed and polished by the sea.
Pour a little resin, put the pebbles, carefully add on top, as when working with a hemisphere, to get a convex surface.
Earrings with parachutes dandelions. Pour a little bit of resin, distribute the wand. At this stage, the resin begins to thicken gradually, it is just necessary that the parachutes remain in the position in which they were laid.
We lay a bunch.
Top with resin with a small bulge. If you do it carefully, then eventually you will need a minimum grinding.
Similarly, it turns out and the truncated ball. Pour the resin half mold.
We lay the necessary number of parachutes with a toothpick or, like me, a large needle (it should be well wiped off with resin).
We add resin to the mold with a dandelion.
And now we will make a bracelet with shells from the Black and Azov seas.Similarly, in a clean, dry bracelet mold pour epoxy resin. By this time, it has become even more dense, so part of it remains on the walls, which is what I need. We add to the mold seashells, pebbles, starfishes, everything that is interesting) We pour out crushed shells, which stick to the walls, creating the effect of a suspended state.
Half an hour before that, I prepared a new batch of resin, very carefully pour it on top to avoid the appearance of unnecessary bubbles. If there are still bubbles, you can heat the oven to 80 degrees, air out, put a mold with resin in it (molds withstand temperatures up to + 204 C). Bubbles come out.
It is important that the mold is standing on a flat surface, otherwise the resin will harden in an inclined position. The neater you pour the epoxy, the less it will be necessary then to grind. I poured the resin to the maximum to the top, with a slight bulge.
Now we wait a day until the resin is completely dry. In order to avoid garbage / dust on the surface of the products, it is necessary to cover them with something, a box, a lid.
At this time we will make a pendant. Prepare the main background - apply liquid plastic on the workpiece.Polymer clay, rolled into a thin layer, cover, distribute and bake in the oven. Give cool and you can get to work.
Pour a few drops of resin so that it can be spread on the surface and with the help of tweezers and needles we make a composition of completely dried leaves. Resin acts as an adhesive that does not allow light dried flowers to budge. You should not use live or poorly dried flowers for resin fillings, over time they will deteriorate and turn black.
Since There is a holder on the back of the pendant, I had to put it in the mold so that the surface was horizontal. I never think out in advance what the composition should be, so I spread all the appropriate flowers and herbs and inspiredly start collecting a small live picture.
The result is such a small world. Leave to dry, after the resin has hardened, you can pour a second layer, forming a convex beautiful lens.
The day passed, the resin completely otverdela and I got all the resulting billet. This is a bracelet, the top of it.
By the same principle, you can make a pendant, earrings, a ring, etc.
This is a hemisphere with a dandelion, next to the second, orange, for comparison.
These are the resulting truncated balls with parachutes:
I also flooded the small hemispheres:
Rings of sea glass, for comparison, put those that did earlier.
If a drop of stained paint or perlex powder is added to the resin, you can get different shades of resin. When stained with stained paint, it is worth adding a drop, because the proportions between the resin and hardener may be disturbed by staining, as a result, the product may not harden or become sticky when touched.
You can add potal and get interesting decorations.
And these lenses with parachutes, as you can see, are beautiful. So, as it was intended.
The reverse side remained flush with the edges of the lenses.
After full hardening it is necessary to grind uneven and sharp edges.
Here is the reverse side of the pendant after hardening of the resin.
Grind carefully, and not to breathe dust, you can wear a mask / respirator.
The back of the hemisphere after grinding.
We do the same with the bracelet, you can take a manicure machine as an assistant, as I did, the main thing is to buy good batteries.
As you can see in the photo, I needed a minimum grinding around the edge of the bracelet, because I took care of this in advance when I poured the resin into the mold.
We cover the polishing places with varnish, I have a glassy varnish, the layer is the most minimal.
When the varnish dries, you can admire the result.
For a beautiful pendant I picked up an equally beautiful, decent frame and decorated it with a miniature butterfly.
The second dandelion, with an orange center:
Thanks to such amazing material as jewelry epoxy, you can do the most incredible things:
