Tips for growing an unusual flower Dicenter

Graceful roses, proud high gladioli, delicate daisies - all this, of course, will decorate your garden or summer cottage. But these flowers are too traditional. And if you are looking for a flower that can diversify all this magnificence, and become the center of admiration for your neighbors, choose a center.

The legend says

This plant in the form of a heart appeared in Europe in the early 19th century, and came from Japan. There are many beliefs associated with it. So, according to French legend, a young girl Jeanette fervently fell in love with a guy who was a hunter. He helped her once when she got lost in the forest. But the next time Jeanette met her prince with another girl. The heart did not withstand such disappointment and burst, turning into a small flower, which the French began to call “Jeanette's heart”.

German history promises a meeting with the bride / groom if, on the way home, young people pluck the flower of the centers and lay closer to the heart.

Species

In total there are about 20 of its species, but only three are used in ornamental gardening.

  1. "Gorgeous." This view, presented in the photo, is the very “broken heart”. In size and splendor flowering surpasses all other varieties. Most often, the plant has bright pink flowers.
  2. "Beautiful." This is a mini version. It grows no more than 30 cm tall and has small purple or white flowers.
  3. "Exceptional." A perennial view, reaching a height of only 25 cm. Its leaves look like a fern, and flowers are flat with curved petals.

Preparing for planting and watering

Dicenter is an absolutely unpretentious plant, it grows in a small bush, 30-60 cm high. In one place a flower can grow up to 8 years, after which it requires a transplant. Blossom "broken heart" begins in May, and this period lasts about a month, but very dependent on air temperature. If the weather is hot, the flower stalks can fall faster, and vice versa - if there is a comfortable warmth, the flowering period can last.

The plant will feel great both in the sun and in the shade, so you can choose any place convenient for you.The soil for the dicter should be moisture-proof, so that the water does not stagnate for a long time, because it can lead to rotting. Land for planting should be well digged and fertilized. If you are not too lazy to buy and make mineral fertilizers, then the plant will surely please you with its pomp.

"Broken heart" loves sandy and stony soil. If you don’t have those in the area, make a drainage layer at the drop-off point, which should be placed under the top of the ground. For it you can use small clay, small gravel or even river sand.

Watering after planting, as a rule, is not needed. But watch the temperature of the air and the soil, if it is already hot outside, the plant needs moisture.

How to care?

From that, how correctly and attentively you will care for the “broken heart”, depends on its appearance. In a sunny place, the plant will quickly begin to bloom, but the flower stalks will be small and soon bloom, but in the shade the color will grow longer, but the “hearts” will be large and bright. To ensure proper care for the dentist, it is worth following several rules:

  1. Lush and beautiful buds will appear on the bush if you pre-fertilize the earth with superphosphate and feed it 3 more times in the process of flowering.
  2. After the dysentor fades, and the bush will continue to turn green, you need to make a fertilizer with nitrogen in the soil, which will help form a new color.
  3. If the air temperature begins to decline significantly, the bush should be covered.
  4. Flowers that have wilted must be removed on time, this will prolong flowering.

Breeding

The plant multiplies mainly by dividing the root part. It is also possible to plant a seed center from seeds, but this is a rather painstaking work, since there are very few of them and they require a special preparation process.

It is necessary to divide a bush in the spring, before new buds and leaves begin to appear on it. Remember that the root system of the Diester, although large, is rather fragile, therefore, it is necessary to carefully dig and divide it.

After dividing cuttings should be planted in loose ground, watered, and a month later, when the first shoots appear, transplanted into the soil for further cultivation.

Despite the fact that the dicentra does not have varietal species, its beautiful view and charming aroma will certainly please you with its gentle appearance and fragrant flowering in the spring season.
